Unemployment is continuing to decline in South Staffordshire, according to the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics.
In the month leading to September, the number of claimants declined by 53 to 1,326, or 2.8 percent of all economically active 16-64 year old residents.
This was a decline of 213 – or 0.5 percent – on September 2012 and signalled the lowest rate of unemployment in the area since November 2008.
On the figures, Gavin said: “These unemployment declining figures show that our policies are working and that we are making the right decisions to help grow businesses and employment opportunities in South Staffordshire.
“It is brilliant to see the continued expansion of our local businesses. Not only are many of our small businesses making a name for themselves on the national and international markets, but we are also becoming increasingly known as a place for big businesses to invest. It is truly an exciting time to be a resident of South Staffordshire.”
