Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, took part in the Great Wyrley Carnival on Saturday.
Gavin and Councillor Kath Perry judged the float parade, which kicked off at 12 noon and went all around the village.
Cheslyn Hay Beavers won the competition, with a Bugsy Malone tribute, created in the style of a 1920 speak easy.
Landywood Primary School took second place, with its war time float. Finally, the Great Wyrley Scouts’ stole third place position, with a hippy-themed creation.
The main carnival, at which Gavin had his own ‘Meet the MP’ stand, took place in the afternoon at Star Land in Great Wyrley.
Gavin was also responsible for judging the Best Dressed Stall, which he awarded to the Great Wyrley Townswomen’s Guild
Visitors were entertained with displays by Moat Hall Gym and Dance Fusion as well as musical performances by the Chase Drum Corps, Walsall Coronets, Cannock Pipe Band and Great Wyrley Community Band.
Further attractions included Chester the Clown shows, a dog display and dog show, steam engine rides, quad bikes, bouncy castles, an assault course, a giant slide, a Cresta run, bungee trampolenes, a simulator ride, a football shout out and paintball.
There were around 50 charity and private stalls at the show, as well as refreshments and Dobsons Fair.
On the event, Gavin said: “I had a tremendous time at the Great Wyrley Carnival and the standard of the stalls was truly superb. I found it incredibly difficult to choose which float and which stand should win first prize.
“A vast number of people attended the event, this year, and it was a very jolly affair. Carnivals, such as these, are becoming increasingly rare and it is a brilliant testament to the hard work of those on the Carnival Committee that the Great Wyrley Carnival is not only continuing year after year, but thriving.”
