Jaguar Land Rover has launched a new website, dedicated to raising awareness about the employment opportunities available at its new Engine Manufacturing Centre (EMC) at i54 South Staffordshire.
The website, www.jlrenginecareers.co.uk, covers roles that are already advertised on JLRs' main recruitment website. It has been developed as part of a range of media activity to raise awareness of careers at the EMC.
Currently, the employment opportunities cover mostly salaried and skilled trades. It is expected that the majority of manufacturing roles (semi-skilled) will be advertised from late 2013 / early 2014. In the meantime, people can register an interest on JLRs' main website, www.jaguarlandrovercareers.com/skilled-trades/be-part-of-it/business-areas/engine-manufacturing.
A number of sessions between JLR, Staffordshire and Wolverhampton Councils, and Job Centre Plus have already been held to explore what activity can be put in place to support local people to access jobs at the EMC.
On the new website, Gavin said: “I think it is wonderful news that Jaguar Land Rover has launched this new site. Job creation is only the first step towards reducing unemployment. Ensuring that there is awareness of any employment opportunities is extremely important and helps guarantee that a business receives the best possible candidates for any given role.
“I also very much look forward to seeing Jaguar Land Rover at the South Staffs Job Fayre tomorrow, where we will see 49 local businesses exhibiting and discussing employment opportunities with visitors. Such events provide a great boost to the area and can have a big part to play in helping people find work.”
