Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has welcomed funding from the Aviva Community Fund that will go towards support two community projects.
From the thousands of entries to the scheme it was announced that two South Staffordshire projects have been successful in being given funds to support their causes. The money from the Fund will go towards the redevelopment of Harrisons Football Ground for the Wyrley Juniors Football Club and the refurbishment of Coven Playing Field.
The Aviva Community Fund, a nationwide initiative that lends a helping hand to grassroots sports clubs and community causes, has reopened for a second year to offer funding of between £1,000 and £25,000. The fund will finance over 800 projects across four different fund levels and six categories, spreading our awards to communities throughout the UK.
Commenting on the fund Gavin said: “This is such an exciting opportunity for the Wyrley Junior Football Club and the Coven Playing Field Committee that have worked so hard to get this extra funding boost. I know how well received this will be as both projects are very popular in the community.
“There are many groups right across South Staffordshire who work so tirelessly to bring our community together whether in sport or youth clubs and these two projects are brilliant examples of our villages coming together to work towards improving facilities for our young people.
