Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, congratulated the winner of his Christmas card competition, year 5 student Amelie Moseley at the Corbett Primary School on Friday.
Amelie’s design of a Parliamentary Christmas scene was chosen from a number of entries from the Bobbington school at the end of last year and was sent out to constituents and Members of Parliament.
Whilst visiting the school Gavin spoke to pupils about his job as a Member of Parliament as the Chief Whip. He also took part in a question and answer session with students as well as demonstrating the ceremony of becoming a member of the Privy Council.
The competition was a part of Gavin’s annual competition where schools submit designs based on Christmas in Westminster.
On his visit Gavin commented: ““I really enjoyed my visit to the Corbett School and meeting pupils and answering their questions. It was great to see how enthusiastic they were about parliament and the role that the Queen plays.
“There was a very high standard of Christmas card designs from all the students and I would like to congratulate Amelie for her fantastic winning card. It is really wonderful to see all the hard work that the children have put into this competition. All the cards that we received were truly excellent and it was incredibly difficult to pick just one winner.”
