Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has urged charities, social enterprises and community groups to apply to the Royal Bank of Scotland’s (RBS) Skills and Opportunities Fund, a scheme whose aim is to better fund vital community groups across the country.
The fund, which RBS launched in May of last year, is part of their ongoing commitment to making a difference in the communities and has so far awarded £1.25 million to people across the UK and Ireland.
The bank has now been allocated a further £2.5 million for 2016 to support organisations that help people in disadvantaged communities develop, create or access the skills and opportunities they need to help themselves; enabling them to get into work or start a business, now or in the future.
Applications for the fund are now open until Friday 9th September.
Speaking on the RBS fund Gavin said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local organisations and community groups to have access to vital funding and support that they may need to function.
“I have visited many organisations across South Staffordshire that are in need of financial support and guidance. I would thoroughly recommend that people take up the opportunity and apply before the closing date on September 9, 2016.”
