Gavin Williamson, Member of Parliament for South Staffordshire, has called on Wolverhampton City Council to reject plans for an incinerator to be built just off the A449.
Commenting on this Gavin Williamson said:
“There is already adequate incineration capacity in the West Midlands and we certainly do not need another. Local residents do not want to be inconvenienced by an increase in vehicle movements travelling to the site and it could be detrimental not just for my constituents but also to many within Wolverhampton. Developers seem to view both South Staffordshire and Wolverhampton as an area to dump waste incinerators and believe this is not good for the area. Frankly I want to see the development of high tech, high skilled jobs in manufacturing bought to the area such as those created by Jaguar Land Rover, not just ever more incinerators”.
Gavin Williamson MP has outlined his concerns to the Chief Executive of Wolverhampton City Council and asked that they include him in any consultation on this development.
