Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, delivered the key note speech at the South Staffordshire Community & Voluntary Action (SSCVA) Masterclass last week.
The masterclass, which was in partnership with the District Council and other key partners in the District was opened by Cllr Brian Edwards, Leader of South Staffordshire District Council.
Gavin, who is a patron of the SSCVA, gave the keynote speech on the importance of volunteering to ensure we support those that are most vulnerable in our society. For the past 2 years Gavin, has supported the SSCVA’s Volunteer Award. Last year Gavin launched his own Volunteer Award, recognising the contribution of volunteers in South Staffordshire, who have gone the extra mile.
SSCVA organises an annual event, recognising and celebrating the contribution made by volunteers across the District as well as giving community and voluntary groups an opportunity to celebrate their achievements. SSCVA’s volunteer centre in South Staffordshire, provides assistance to individual volunteers and volunteer involving organisations, which is a part of the West Midlands Volunteer Centre Network.
Gavin said: “It was an honour to be asked to give the keynote speech at the SSCVA masterclass last week. I am a huge supporter of the many volunteer groups that we have in South Staffordshire and I’m immensely proud of the work that volunteers do to support the most vulnerable in society. The SSCVA do such a fantastic job and I hope that many more people will take part in this extremely rewarding activity.”
