Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire has welcomed the completion of the M54 junction slip road this weekend.
The eastbound exit slip road, on the M54 junction two, will serve the i54 business park which hosts businesses such as Jaguar Land Rover, Moog and Eurofins. The business park is set to bring hundreds of new local jobs to the area.
The junction construction is a unique civil engineering project, led by Staffordshire County Council and carried out in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council and South Staffordshire Council.
Staffordshire County Council’s economy leader Mark Winnington said: “The junction is a vital component of the site as it provides direct access onto the M54 and the motorway network – a major attraction to businesses which need the best connections possible.”
Gavin said: “I welcome this investment led by Staffordshire County Council and assisted by South Staffordshire Council and Wolverhampton City Council. It’s great that the slip road has been completed in time for the impending opening of the business park.
“This is a fantastic example of local authorities putting their money with their mouths are. The site will bring hundreds of local jobs, provide a huge boost to our local economy and the future prosperity of our region.”
