Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has welcomed new funding for local football club Wolverhampton Casuals.
The club has been awarded a total of £1500 from the Football Foundation, through its club development scheme Grow the Game.
The Grow the Game Scheme provides grants of up to £1,500 for the creation of new football teams and coaching qualifications, with money provided by the Premier League and The Football Association (FA).
The funding can be put towards facility hire, the hire of FA qualified coaches, referees fees, CRB checks, affiliation fees, League entry, first aid kits, promotion and publicity, FA coaching courses and football kit.
Gavin said: “It is wonderful news that the Wolverhampton Casuals has been awarded this grant. It could not go towards a worthier recipient.
“Funding, such as this, is vital to ensure that our young people have access to the training that they need to reach their full potential. Sports plays an incredibly important role in our communities and helps youngsters grow the confidence they will require to succeed in later life.”
Wolverhampton Casuals is located on Brinsford Lane, in Coven Heath. It is one of the only non-league football clubs, within the West Midlands area, that is currently actively growing as a club.
