Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, attended the launch of Coventya UK on Friday 9th May.
Gavin was given a guided tour of the Four Ashes site, focussing on the company’s upgraded laboratory and warehouse areas, by managing director Duncan Beckett.
He also discussed the issues currently affecting the business and talked about what support could be obtained for the business going forward.
Coventya, a global leader in specialty chemicals for the electroplating and surface treatment industry, acquired UK based specialist for Cataphoretic Lacquer, Molecular Technology Ltd., in 2012.
The company was renamed Coventya Ltd and plans were formed to grow the business, expanding its existing lacquer offering to include the full Coventya product line in the UK market.
In the laboratory, Gavin was given the opportunity to see the type of equipment that Coventya uses for product research & development and customer support. The new pilot line was operational, enabling the visitors to see some of the company’s chemical technologies in use by its experienced team.
The expanded warehouse is used to stock lacquer products that Coventya makes on site, which it primarily exports. Coventya now stocks a range of chemical products from its German and Italian manufacturing sites, which are intended for the UK market.
Gavin said: “I greatly enjoyed meeting everyone from Coventya at the open day. The tour of the newly expanded warehouse and laboratory was incredibly informative and it was wonderful to view the team in action.
“It is great to see a global company, such as Coventya, choose South Staffordshire as its UK base of operations. I have no doubt the business will prove an incredible success.”
Founded in 1999, Molecular Technology products were well known in the industry and distributed in over 20 countries. The primary target of these products was for decorative applications.
Coventya expects to leverage its expertise in both copper-nickel-chrome and precious metals, opening a variety of options, most notably, in emerging markets.
