Recently Gavin Williamson MP for South Staffordshire, called for the protection of the Green Belt in a parliamentary debate. Speaking in the debate in Westminster Hall on planning policy on the greenbelt Gavin Williamson MP outlined the importance of the greenbelt so that it could continue to act as the lungs for our cities and he chose to highlight their importance and why they were established in 1947.
Commenting after the debate Gavin Williamson MP said:
‘Ever since being elected to Parliament I have been trying to ensure the greenbelt in South Staffordshire is protected. This is something that I have and will continue to do. I have had numerous meetings in which I have made representations to Ministers on behalf of my constituents. I have received reassurances from Ministers but I will continue to ask for more. We need to protect our countryside especially in places such as Great Wyrley, Cheslyn Hay and Huntington. This is something that I feel passionate about and I hope that any changes that are introduced will protect the greenbelt right across South Staffordshire.’
