Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, is calling for all local musicians and film makers to enter Parliament’s largest competitions, Rock the House and Film the House.
Founded by Intellectual Property Advisor to the Prime Minister, Mike Weatherley MP, the competitions are sponsored by industry and supported by celebrity Patrons.
Both competitions offer the opportunity for South Staffordshire constituency’s creatives to have their work judged by the leading lights of industry and win prizes ranging from festival slots, studio time and equipment to the opportunity to have their work premiered in London’s West End.
Even those who don’t wish to enter can still get involved by helping to support the local talent, such as South Staffordshire’s very own folk quartet, Clutching Straws.
Gavin Williamson MP said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to get your music and films noticed. Either represent South Staffordshire in Rock the House, alongside local folk quartet Clutching Straws, or become our first entrant for the Film the House competition. After all, you have to be in it to win it.”
Rock legend and actor Alice Cooper added: “Rock the House is a great project which celebrates the fantastic diversity of the British music scene and gives musicians a vehicle through which to hold their legislators accountable about protecting the music industry’s intellectual property.”
The deadline for applications is the 31st March 2014. For more information on how to enter Rock the House go to www.rockthehouseHOC.com/apply.html ; and for Film the House www.filmthehouse.com/apply.html .
