Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, today welcomed the Coven Forget-Me-Not Club to Parliament.
The group of 35 went on a grand tour of Westminster Hall, the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
They then sojourned to Portcullis House, where Gavin talked about his role as an MP and his duties within the constituency.
He also answered a series of questions from the group on topics such as the role played by Committees, voting procedure and how MPs can use Parliament as a platform to address local issues.
On the visit, Gavin said: “It was a massive pleasure to be able to welcome the Coven Forget-Me-Not Club to Parliament.
“The Forget-Me-Not Club is a wonderful local group that has expanded significantly over the past year. I greatly enjoyed being able to show some of its members on a tour of the House Commons and to tell them about the many duties that I undertake on behalf of South Staffordshire, in Westminster.”
The Coven Forget Me Club is a local social group for over 55s. Members are able to take part in monthly coach trips, listen to Speakers, play Bingo and go out for meals.
The club meets every Tuesday, from 2-4pm, at the Coven Memorial Hall. A local voluntary mini bus service is also provided for members.
