Gavin recently took pupils questions during a visit to St Thomas More Primary School, located in Great Wyrley, as part of their Pupil Parliament program.
Headteacher, Stephanie Hewitt, has worked closely with staff and pupils at the school to establish a 'Pupil Parliament'. Gavin visited the school to join in the activities and talk to pupils about his work as a Member of Parliament. The pupils asked him some very challenging questions including the role of the Speaker, Brexit and more.
Speaking about the event, Gavin said: “It was fantastic to be able to visit St Thomas More and to have the privilege of speaking to the children about the roles of parliament such as the role of the Leader of the House and Speaker. St Thomas More holds a very special place for me as I used to be a governor of this wonderful school, so it was an honour to meet so many intelligent and inquisitive pupils and I very much look forward to my next visit.”
