Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire visited pupils at St Dominic’s School in Brewood to take part in their Citizenship lessons.
Gavin met with pupils who have been learning about creating their own political parties. Students are working towards writing their election manifestos and speeches for their parties before holding mock elections within their classes. Gavin spoke with pupils about the aims and ideologies of the different political parties in the United Kingdom as well as how to create their own manifesto.
Pupils also spoke about the elections in the United States, comparing the Presidential Race to that of the General Election in the UK.
Commenting on his visit to the school Gavin said: “I really enjoyed meeting pupils and hearing about their fantastic projects, creating their own political parties. It was wonderful to see how engaged they were talking about politics here in the UK and also in the United States.
“I was extremely impressed with some of their ideas in their manifestos, I think that some politicians could use their ideas and enthusiasm in the future.”
