Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Codsall’s Forget-Me-Not Club to open their new kitchen, during their coffee morning on Saturday 13th October.
The refurbishment at the club’s premises on Station Road, which included new cupboards, a cooker and dishwasher, was funded by a grant of £8000 from the big lottery fund, obtained by the club.
The new facilities have made the room more viable to be rented out, with money spent on amenities such as crockery to allow groups renting the room to serve meals and hot drinks.
Mrs Harthorne, a member of the Codsall group said: “We are so grateful that Gavin could come and open the refurbished kitchen. It will make such a difference for the club on a Wednesday afternoon, but also making the room more amenable to those that want to come and rent it out at other times.”
Gavin said: “I really enjoyed my visit to the Codsall Forget-Me-Not Club to re-open the new kitchen facilities. As always, I really enjoyed talking to members and answering their questions.
“I’m delighted that the Club managed to secure the funding for the much needed refurbishment of the kitchen. The club is a wonderful local organisation and the new facilities will enable more groups to rent out the room and for more people to enjoy this wonderful location.”
