Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire joined the Kinver Rotary Club for Macmillan Coffee Morning, an event to raise funds for cancer nurses
Last Saturday, the 25th of September, Gavin Williamson joined Cllr Lin Hingley, Chairman of South Staffordshire Council, and the Kinver Rotary Club for Macmillan Coffee Morning in Kinver.
Macmillan Coffee Morning is a nationwide fundraising initiative to raise funds and awareness to fight cancer. This year, the charity is seeking to double the number of specialist cancer nurses by 2030 to support the growing number of people living with cancer. They are also calling on the Government to support a Cancer Nurse Fund to train the next generation of cancer nurses.
The Kinver Parish Council sponsored market stalls selling local craft beers and organised for a local Eukele group to perform live in order to attract more villagers to the Macmillan Coffee Morning in Kinver. Overall, the event managed to raise a total sum of £750 for the Macmillan Nurses.
Gavin said: “I am delighted to show my support and help raise funds for Macmillan Nurses alongside the Kinver Rotary Club. I could not be prouder of the vital work that our healthcare workers do every day supporting the more than 3 million people living with cancer. Macmillan Coffee Morning is a brilliant initiative for a great cause so I’m calling on everyone to show their support too.”
Cllr Lin Hingley said: “It was a privilege to be invited to a Macmillan Coffee Morning as Chairman of South Staffordshire Council, it was well run by Kinver Rotarians. The Coffee Morning was a great success raising £750 for the Macmillan Nurses which holds dear to them their patients, caring for the sick and the dying with cancer. Congratulations to the Rotarians.”
