Gavin Williamson MP for South Staffordshire, is leading the fight to save the historic war time collection at the Boulton Paul Aircraft Heritage Project and keep it together. This fantastic collection is facing closure in December next year and the contents are at risk of being broken up. Even the fabulous Tyne aircraft is at risk of being dismantled. Gavin Williamson MP has stepped in to see what can be done to save this important collection.
Commenting on this Gavin Williamson MP said:
‘It is vitally important that we save this important heritage project. Many of the items that were collected to show the history of Boulton Paul are of great national importance. The Boulton Paul Factory played a great part in the war effort and helped Britain to remain a strong, sovereign and independent nation. I will be putting in every effort towards keeping this collection complete so that it can continue to act as inspiration for the many generations to come and show the importance of industrial heritage to our lives.’
The threat of closure has arisen following the announcement that the Heritage Museum will have to move out of its current location at the end of 2012 due to the relocation of the MOOG Operations to the i54 industrial estate. Gavin Williamson MP is working with local and district councillors to see what can be done to safeguard the museum’s future.
