Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, enjoyed a sell-out pantomime performance of Cinderella, with his family, in Great Wyrley last weekend.
The performance, which took place at Great Wyrley High School, was presented by The Wyrley Pretenders, which has a cast of more than 30 adults and children. This year marks the 10th year of the performance group, with Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin and the Snow Queen, just a few of the shows in their repertoire.
The pantomime, loosely based on the folk tale by the Brothers Grimm, was directed by Sean Malpass. In the spirit of a traditional family pantomime, it featured a lively mix of slap stick, ‘silly’ jokes with modern songs, featuring lyrics that had been re-written to fit the plot.
Gavin said: “I would like to congratulate Sean Malpass and the entire cast for a brilliant pantomime performance of Cinderella. It was fantastic to see such a cast of all ages. It is so great to see a community come together to put on an amazing family show. Everything about the performance was so professional and I’m already looking forward to next year.”
