Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has called on Codsall Parish Council to re-plant tress that have been cut down in Codsall.
The trees, which used to line one side of Wheel Avenue in Codsall, have been chopped down after they were discovered to be diseased and had to be removed. The tree stumps have been left as a reminder, with new trees being planted as replacements on Wheel Field, the park next to the road affected.
Gavin is calling on the Parish Council to plant replacement trees on the Avenue itself in order to hide the remains of the stumps from view. He has suggested that blossom trees be planted as replacement for the lost birch trees as they are fast growing and would not grow too tall as to dominate the view from houses along the road.
Commenting on the situation Gavin said: “I understand why the trees were removed but I think it would be a nice idea to plant smaller trees to hide the trees stumps from view. The new trees, such as blossom trees, would act as an attractive feature and wouldn’t grow too tall as to dominate the view from neighbouring houses or the road. I await Codsall Parish Council’s decision on the trees and would very much welcome a decision to improve the unsightly remains of the trees that currently blight the road.”
