Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, attended the Wombourne Music Festival held at the St Benedict Biscop Church.
The Annual Music Festival, the 8th to take place since it began in 2008, featured a number of concerts over an eight day period, showcasing a broad range of local talent.
Gavin attended a concert featuring choirs from the Corbett Primary School and Westfield Primary. Other concerts included a “Festival Songs of Praise” featuring a number of favourite hymns selected by the congregation, a “Last Night of the Wombourne Proms”, and an evening inspired by the music of Gilbert and Sullivan.
The Church organises many events throughout the year including the annual flower festival which was held earlier this summer.
On attending the event Gavin commented: “I was very grateful to be invited to attend the 8th Annual Music Festival. I greatly enjoyed all the music that was performed by the wonderful pupils from both the Corbett and Westfield Primary Schools.
“I am delighted to hear that so many people came to support the musicians and attend this fantastic series of concerts. The church contributes a huge amount to the local community and it is great to see residents come together every year in its support. Huge thanks should go to the organisers, who always do an excellent job, and to the extremely talented performers.”
