Gavin Williamson, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for South Staffordshire, attended a Festival on Easter Monday organised by Friends of Bilbrook.
Gavin visited many of the stalls, meeting stallholders and residents who were enjoying the sunny Bank Holiday sunshine. There was a wide variety of stalls offering games, puzzles, prizes, cakes, tomobolas and bric-a-brac.
The Easter Monday Fair is organised by Holy Cross Church. The church has invested significant funds into the Easter Monday Fair, investing heavily in providing gazebos for the stalls in the street as well as more family orientated games and activities. The Easter Monday Fair is now in its 34th year, having originally been organised to pay for the refurbishment of the chuch hall in the 1980s. All of the profits that are now raised by the fair are put straight back into funding church's community acitivities for all ages. This year over £3,500 was raised to go straight back into projects serving the community.
Gavin commented: “There was an amazing turnout for the Easter Fair. I would like to thank Holy Cross Church for organising this brilliant event. They obviously put so much effort into the organsation and it is very much appreciated. The £3,500 raised will go straight back into the community to fund important community projects, funding the church's community acitivities for all ages. It is fantastic to see local people putting so much in to making both of these events such a great success. It is events like this that bring communities together and which are so important for all of us.”
