Gavin Williamson MP for South Staffordshire has recently held talks with General Electric to see what can be done to save the Boulton Paul Museum. General Electric own the site of the old Boulton and Paul Factory which is located on Wobaston Road in Bilbrook.
Gavin Williamson MP held the meeting to see if there is any opportunity to enable the Boulton and Paul Association which runs the museum to stay on site. Unfortunately General Electric has decided to clear the site but they have given assurances that the Museum can remain there until the end of 2012. Mr Williamson did however manage to secure assurances of help with relocation to a new site if one can be found.
Commenting on this matter Gavin Williamson MP said:
‘While I am deeply disappointed that we are not able to come to some arrangement for the Boulton Paul Association to stay on the current site I am grateful that General Electric have taken a positive attitude towards contributing financially to the cost of moving some of the exhibits. The top priority is to find a new site in order to secure the future of these important exhibits. I will be sitting down with the Boulton Paul Association to see what can be done to find a home for this important local heritage project.’
