Gavin Williamson MP for South Staffordshire was delighted to receive confirmation that Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is to invest £355 million to build a new factory on the i54 business park in Bilbrook, South Staffordshire which could bring up to 2000 jobs to the area. He welcomed the decision and is pleased that all the hard work that has gone into securing the bid has been successful.
Commenting on this Gavin Williamson MP said:
‘This is fantastic news which will lead to many thousands of jobs which will directly and indirectly strengthen the local economy. Having fought for so long to get this investment it is a great relief to hear that it will be going ahead and I hope that it heralds a new dawn for British manufacturing and the British economy. I am delighted that this plant will be bringing so many jobs to South Staffordshire which are highly paid and well trained. It is this kind of investment that Britain needs more of.’
Gavin Williamson MP has worked hard in conjunction with other local Members of Parliament, Staffordshire County Council, Wolverhampton City Council and South Staffordshire Council to ensure that the bid had all the support possible from the Government for it to succeed. The Coalition Government has pledged around £10 million worth of support for the JLR plant.
