Gavin Williamson MP for South Staffordshire was shocked to discover that the Labour Government spent more than £5million of taxpayers money on Chauffers for Health Ministers Alone.Gavin Williamson uncovered the figures in a series of Parliamentary Questions which revealed that between 1997 and 2010, the Department of Health spent £5.3million on drivers. To make matters worse the bill actually rose by 11 per cent in 2009-10 under the then Health Secretary Andy Burnham in the year that a report was commissioned on NHS staff cuts.Commenting on this Gavin Williamson said: "While Labour were driving the country to near-economic ruin, their ministers clearly didn't think twice about driving around in luxury at the taxpayer's expense.""In both cases it has taken the Coalition to get the situation under control and to ensure that ordinary people's hard-earned money is spent responsibly."The Coalition Government has launched a crackdown on unnecessary spending as it tries to bring down the deficit.
