Gavin Williamson MP for South Staffordshire has called on the Chief Executive of Royal Mail to intervene and reinstate Julie Roberts who has been suspended following the theft of her van.
Miss Roberts of Ball Lane, Wombourne, was suspended from her position after her van was stolen during one of her delivery rounds. When Miss Roberts saw that the van was being taken she immediately clung to the front of the van in order to try and stop the thieves escape and they carried on driving with Miss Roberts on the bonnet of the van.
Commenting on this Gavin Williamson MP said:
‘While Miss Roberts may have made a mistake, I think that Royal Mail should use a sense of proportion with this case. It is obvious to everyone that Miss Roberts is a highly dedicated and committed employee who took action above and beyond the call of duty to try and stop the van being stolen. I very much hope that the Chief Executive will reinstate Miss Roberts as I think it is only right and fair’.
