Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has criticised designs for the new fire stations for Kinver and Codsall saying that the plans are not sympathetic to their surrounds.
Brand new firestations are in the pipeline fore Codsall, Kinver, Stone, Rugeley, Penkridge, Chase Terrace and Lichfield. Gavin's concerns come from the fact that the stations are designed to be uniform and he believes this renders them suitable for none.
Commenting on the plans Gavin Williamson MP said:
'The design of the fire station for Codsall and Bilbrook is grotesque and will become a wart on the landscape. These fire stations follow similar designs in Manchester. Residents of Codsall and Bilbrook and Kinver do not live in Manchester and I do not believe they have plans to do so. It is time that these plans served local residents rather than the tastes of those living miles away in inner city Manchester.'
While the plans have recently been voted through Gavin Williamson is going to continue to campaign for these stations to take their local area into account and he will be meeting with the Chief Fire Officer shortly to continue to raise residents concerns to ensure that the detrimental impact of these firestations is minimised.
