Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire visited to Watery Lane Allotments, in Codsall, to judge of the Tallest Sunflower Competition and hear about their success of their vegetable crops.
Gavin toured the allotments, looking at the different produce that was being grown including a crop of recently harvested onions and measuring the sunflowers.
In keeping with his recent interest in the local environment he was shown the bat boxes and bug hotels and heard about the crayfish that have returned to the Moat Brook.
Gavin said: “I had a wonderful time once again judging the Tallest Sunflower Competition at Watery Lane Allotments. The allotments seem to get more and more impressive each year with the quality of the produce being grown being fantastic.
“It was great to learn more about what the allotments are doing with the bat boxes and bug hotels and I was especially delighted to hear that crayfish have returned to the Moat Brook which can only be further proof of our thriving environment in South Staffordshire.
