Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited PP Control and Automation in Cheslyn Hay last week to learn more about their work in the manufacturing sector and their plans for expansion.
Gavin met with Managing Director Tony Hague and Chairman and CEO David Fox to tour the company and learning about their products including printed circuit boards which are used in mobile phones.
The company, which was founded in 1979, currently employs 200 people and is looking to expand globally after a recent investment of £1 million. The expansion plans will see an additional 1,000 sq metres of production space to the existing site, including a new logistics department and clean assembly area. Construction has already begun on the building in a move that will give the company the additional capacity it needs to reach its aim of doubling sales by 2021.
The expansion also means new jobs for the company including six new apprentices who will benefit from proposals for a training school, encouraging workers to develop their practical experience on the job.
Commenting on his visit to the company Gavin said: “It was fascinating to tour the factory and meet with Tony and David to hear about their success as a company and their upcoming plans for expansion.
“The company already produces such a high quality product and I was particularly pleased to hear about their proposals to introduce a number of new apprenticeship placements for young people in the area, which would provide an invaluable opportunity to gain a practical experience in the sector.
“PP Control and Automation is one of a number of companies in the area that I have visited recently who have exciting expansion plans in the works which only goes to show how business in and around South Staffordshire is going from strength to strength.”
