Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, recently met with young people in their final week of NCS.
The NCS is a personal and social development programme for young people aged 15-17. Completing the NCS involves a number of phases, which involve a variety of team building activities. The young people that Gavin met had spent time at Staffordshire University, organised fundraising events for Help for Heroes and completed an enterprise day which involved creating a social enterprise and presenting it to a set of ‘Dragons’. Gavin was given the chance to listen to the young people tell stories about their experiences of the programme. He also delivered a speech and took part in a Q&A.
Speaking about the event, Gavin said ‘‘It has been great meeting with these young people and seeing the fantastic work they are contributing to the community. I think NCS, run by dedicated partners like APM and Catch 22, is brilliant at helping local young people grow and gain vital skills for their future. I would highly encourage all young people to get involved in any way that they can.’’
