Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire has visited the Birmingham Dogs Home centre in Coven to raise awareness and support for homeless dogs
This Friday, 10th of December, Gavin met the Chief Executive of Birmingham Dogs Home, Giles Webber, and the Coven Centre Manager, Karen Doy, for a tour of the facility and a discussion of future plans. The MP for South Staffordshire took the opportunity to play with many of the dogs in their care and speak to the dedicated staff at the centre about their rescue experiences.
Birmingham Dogs Home has been helping dogs from across the Midlands for almost 130 years. The centre is currently running a campaign named “A December to Remember” which seeks to encourage people to donate a Christmas dinner to a homeless dog as a gift or in memory of a loved one.
Gavin said: “As a dog lover myself, I can’t help but to feel deeply touched by the vital work that the amazing people in Coven do every day, taking in abandoned dogs, many of which have suffered from neglect or abuse, giving them the medical care they need to heal, and a space where they can feel safe.”
