Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visit the Central Orchid Society’s Orchid Autumn Show at Perton Civic Centre.
The show brought together Orchid growers from across the region to display their many different species of the flower.
The society, formed in 1956, is one of the oldest Orchid Societies in the country. It was first known as the Midland Section of the Amateur Orchid Growers Society, which later became the Orchid Society of Great Britain.
Gavin said: “The range of Orchids on display was fantastic, the growers must be so proud of their achievements. I had a thoroughly enjoyable time at the Orchid Show, it was an honour to be invited to visit their incredible collection as I have always loved the flowers. It was wonderful to see the many Orchid growers from across South Staffordshire and indeed from across the West Midlands. It’s great to see the comradery between the different Orchid growers from across the area and I certainly picked up a few tips to attempt to grow my own.”
