Sir Gavin Williamson had a blooming good weekend as Brewood residents opened up their gardens in support of local causes.

Last weekend provided a wonderful opportunity to explore Brewood’s hidden gems with 18 private gardens taking part as well as locations such as St Mary’s Church and Brewood Bowling Club.

Keen Brewood gardeners opened up their homes to share green-fingered tips with visitors, including how to maximise space and ensure plants are kept in top condition to bloom. As well as visiting local gardens, traditional cream teas, prosecco, cake sales, and raffles were available.

The money raised was to benefit Brewood First Responders and the local scout group. Sir Gavin toured many private gardens and visited the church to thank the community for taking part.

Sir Gavin said: “This was such a wonderful event, and I would like to extend my warm appreciation to residents for taking part and raising money for such amazing local causes.

“I was inspired by the talent and creation demonstrated by residents, and was so in awe of their community spirit, willingness to open their gardens, as well as the support received by the church and bowling club.

“I would also like to extend my thanks to organisers and volunteers for their tireless effort and hard work – without their dedication events like this would not be possible to display.”
