Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, joined thousands across the country in attending events for the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
In addition to numerous coffee mornings that took place across South Staffordshire, Gavin attended three events on the day, one at the Nationwide Bank in Codsall, one with the 1st Perton Guides and also one at Brewood Library, having previously visiting Great Wyrley for their coffee morning the day before.
The event at Brewood Library, which was supported by Councillors Mark and Wendy Sutton, raised £552 for the charity thanks to the support of local residents.
Commenting on the events Gavin said: “I was so pleased that local residents came out in force to attend the coffee mornings, it was great to see so many people coming together to support such a valuable cause.
“The money raised will help to fund vital medical, financial and emotional support for families affected by cancer. Although I attended coffee mornings in Perton, Brewood, Codsall and Great Wyrley, it was great to hear that so many residents right across South Staffordshire were holding their own events.
“Macmillan offers such invaluable support to those who face the worst of times and their dedication and compassion to those suffering from the disease and their families is so important. I am glad that there are so many across the constituency who are able to support Macmillan and I would like to thank all those involved for hosting their own coffee mornings.”
