Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Kinver to support Small Business Saturday this weekend.
Kinver District Councillor Lin Hingley met with Gavin and they visited a number of local businesses together along Kinver High Street.
As well as supporting local businesses there were various Christmas activities including local choirs singing carols and food tasting from stalls hosted by local retailers.
This is the second time that Gavin has spent time on Kinver High Street on Small Business Saturday, encouraging more people to use shop local, especially on the run up to Christmas.
Small Business Saturday is the UK’s most successful small business campaign. As it enters its fourth year, the campaign seeks to highlight the popularity and success of small businesses across the country especially as the festive season approaches.
Commenting on his time in Kinver Gavin said: “I really enjoyed spending time in Kinver on Small Business Saturday this year with Councillor Hingley. It was great to see so many Kinver residents shopping on the High Street and enjoying the Christmas activities. Small Business Saturday is a brilliant initiative, highlighting and celebrating the hard work that small business owners have done this year. Small businesses are a vital part of British society.
“I am so proud of the fact that South Staffordshire has so many fantastic small businesses and they have played a significant role in the recovery of our economy. It’s so important that we continue to support small business owners in every way we can, which is why I am urging constituents to shop local all year round, especially during this festive season.”
