Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, opened the Christmas Tree Festival at St Nicholas’ Church on Friday.
The annual Christmas Tree Festival is held at St Nicholas’ Church in Codsall. The event saw a total of over 30 trees, decorated by a series of different groups from the village, displayed to raise money for the upkeep of the Church.
During the opening of the festival there were performances by St Nicholas’ First School Choir, who sang Christmas carols. On the second day of the festival, attendees were treated to a performance by the Codsall Singers who, as well as having their own tree in the church, sang throughout the afternoon. There were other musical interludes throughout the weekend by local entertainment groups.
Gavin said: “I was honoured to have been asked once again to officially open the Christmas Tree Festival at St Nicholas’ Church. This event is a great way to get into the spirit of Christmas and has taken place in the village over the past few years.
“It is clear that it is a combined community effort, with an impressive amount of effort put into each decorated tree. It also a fantastic way to raise money for the church, which plays such an important role in Codsall. I’d like to thank the organisers of the festival for once again putting on such a fantastic display.”
