Sir Gavin Williamson unveiled Bri-Stor Centre’s new Centre of Excellence – a new facility serving as a dedicated resource for training as well as development.
Bri-Stor Systems, part of The Hex Group, are a Hixon based company that specialise in the transformation of light-commercial vehicles and serve some of the UK’s largest fleet operators.
The Centre of Excellence offers a hub for new skills development through practical learning that will equip apprentices with the skills to launch their careers. The Centre will offer three distinct training modules, and support its three pillars of development: initiate, rejuvenate, and elevate.
As well as offering hands-on experience, Bri-Stor Systems’ Centre of Excellence integrates modern technology with practical learning. The company has launched the use of virtual reality into its van conversion process in order to minimise prototype waste and reduce vehicle lead times by up to 75%, all while improving sustainable practices due to less travel and manufacturing emissions.
Karen Barnacle Group People and Culture Director, said: “The Centre of Excellence is just one example of how we are investing in our people, ensuring they can face new challenges and continuously develop.
“With a dedicated Learning and Development Group Leader, responsible for the centre, we are able to offer industry-leading mentorship and provide the business with a continuous flow of highly skilled workers.”
Sir Gavin said: “I was thrilled to open the new Centre of Excellence which is turbocharging the development of apprentices and equipping them with the skills necessary to excel in their careers.
“As someone deeply committed to skills development, it is highly welcome to see the company’s dedication to facilitating continuous learning throughout their employees’ career journeys.
“This new training centre will provide invaluable opportunities for staff at all stages of their journey – empowering them to grow, adapt, and build fulfilling careers.”
