Sir Gavin welcomed the opportunity to catch-up with Christopher Dean and Christopher Brown who set up the Bishops Wood Action Group to oppose further housebuilding in the village.
Plans of up to 100 houses in the village have been met with strong opposition from councillors, residents, and others.
Sir Gavin said: "The proposal is entirely inappropriate and would further erode the Green Belt in Bishops Wood. Labour want to concrete over our green spaces, but I will stand side by side with local residents to protect the unique identity of Staffordshire."
