Sir Gavin Williamson joined hundreds of local residents on a scorching weekend to enjoy the Great Wyrley Carnival.
The Great Wyrley Carnival takes place each year and sees local independent businesses showcasing their products, charities offering support, local health organisations provide tips for staying healthy, and so much more.
This year, Landywood Primary School won 'best float' for their animal themed entry. Other competitions included 'best dressed adult' which was awarded to Karl Jones for his 'Donkey Kong' costume, whilst the child's winner was Freddie Whittaker for his Wackitt arcade game costume.
Elsewhere, the Wesley Church celebrated their Centenary in style by claiming the prize for 'best dressed stall' alongside Self Slimmers.
Sir Gavin said: "The Great Wyrley Carnival is always a special day in the calendar and is something I always look forward to. As ever, the community spirit was very evident and it was brilliant to see so many people take advantage of the warm weather. Local businesses hugely benefitted as well, and it was great to see The Star Inn pub so busy with people enjoying the day.
"As ever, I would like to thank the Great Wyrley Carnival Committee and all volunteers for their extremely hard work. Without their enthusiasm and dedication, it would not be possible to hold the Carnival each year. I very much look forward to attending next year's event."
