Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has called on the Highways Inspector at Staffordshire County Council to look into problems of drainage causing concern for Codsall residents.
Gavin has been contacted by constituents who have become worried about the state of footpaths by Oaken Lanes which has been made dangerous due to fallen leaves. Walking on the pavement has become dangerous during the recent cold weather due to ice and the narrow width of the pavement in places.
Oaken Lane has also been affected by flooding due to poor drainage systems. Gavin has urged the Council to look into this matter as a matter of urgency to find a resolution to the problem.
Commenting on the issue Gavin said: “Due to cold weather the footpath has become extremely dangerous with the wet leaves freezing and making it a serious risk for pedestrians. The safety of Codsall residents must be a priority and the importance of maintaining our road and footpath cannot be overstated.
“I have asked the Council to look at this as a matter of urgency, especially with cold and wet weather being forecast over the next few weeks.”
