Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, attended Pattingham Drama Group’s performance of ‘Yes, Prime Minister!’ at Pattingham Village Hall recently.
Pattingham Drama Group is an amateur dramatic group based in the village of Pattingham which currently has around 50 adult and 30 junior members. Their productions are normally held at the local village hall but have staged shows at other venues including the local Parish Church and a prison.
The production, which was held over three nights between 16th and 19th of November tells of new Prime Minister Jim Hacker who still relies on help from his mentor, Sir Humphrey Appleby, when it comes to making political decisions. The new PM has also requested that the rest of his staff tag along with him to his new office, including his private secretary, Bernard Woolley tackling arguments over Europe, salacious gossip, contentious trade deals and global warming.
The performance also featured an exclusive cameo from Gavin’s ministerial red box which was on loan for one night only.
After the performance Gavin commented: “I would like to congratulate Pattingham Drama Group for a brilliant performance of ‘Yes, Prime Minister!’ It was a relief to see that the current Government has kept some continuity in the plot of the play. It is so great to see a community come together to put on an amazing show and I really look forward to seeing their next production.”
