Sir Gavin Williamson attended the Haywoods and Colwich Summer Fete at the Jubilee Playing Fields as the community came together for a day of entertainment.
The action packed event commenced with a performance from Haywoods Community Choir and ended with ‘Ibiza tunes’ for adults to enjoy into the early hours of Sunday morning. The traditional dog show was cancelled owing to the high temperatures.
Residents were also able to speak to community police officers regarding any concerns they have, whilst organisations such as Colwich in Bloom and Hixon First Responders were on hand to demonstrate their work in the area.
Sir Gavin said: “I was delighted to attend the Haywoods and Colwich summer fete – a fantastic event which catered for all.
“The scorching weather provided organisers with some challenges, but as ever they adapted superbly to provide people of all ages with brilliant entertainment.
“Without the efforts of volunteers who give up their valuable time to marshall traffic and undertake tasks such as clearing up, it would not be possible to put on such events and I thank them for their continued commitment to the community.
“I very much look forward to attending similar events in the future, which I know are always eagerly anticipated.”
