Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, celebrated the beginning of the Christmas season by joining residents at Coven Christmas Fayre last weekend.
Gavin opened the Christmas Fayre which was held at Coven Memorial Hall. As well as wide variety of stalls, there was a range of craft activities for the children where they could make reindeer food and Christmas tree decorations.
The fair raised money for the Coven Playing Field Committee which hopes to refurbish the current playground facilities which are over 20 years old and in need of updating. The Committee hopes to refurbish 50% of the current equipment and replace the wooden assault course, tyre climbing frame and decommissioned zip wire with new equipment.
The project was this week named as a finalist of the Aviva Community Fund Award, which could see the project be awarded up £1,000 of funding.
After the Fayre Gavin commented: “I would like to congratulate everybody involved in this wonderful event. I was amazed at the turnout to the Christmas Fair, visitors were clearly having a fantastic time.
“It was clear that so much hard work and effort went into the event. It was my first Christmas event of the season and has very much got me into the festive spirit.”
