Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, met with representatives from Network Rail to address concerns of Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay residents using Landywood Station.
Representatives from Network Rail met with Gavin to discuss the upcoming electrification of the Chase Line and Network Rail’s timetable delivery of it. He also raised concerns on behalf of passengers from Landywood who have asked for more regular half-hourly service to and from the station to ease commuter crowding.
This meeting was one in a number of meetings with rail companies that Gavin has hosted in response from concerns from passengers across South Staffordshire. He has continually pushed for a better value service for commuters travelling to Birmingham and Wolverhampton and has urged for a more regular service for those using the Chase Line.
Commenting on his meeting Gavin said: “I would like to thank Network Rail for updating me on their upgrade plans that will go a long way to benefit rail passengers in Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay that use Landywood station.
“This was one in a series of meetings with rail companies where I have been pushing for the best possible service for commuters. I was heartened by the promising upgrade proposals that I saw from Network Rail and I hope that they will be implicated very soon so South Staffordshire passengers can take advantage of them.”
