I share my constituents' real anger at the current reckless use of hotels in South Staffordshire to provide asylum seekers with accommodation is unacceptable
Serco and the Home Office have recently set up two hotels to house asylum seekers in the area covered by South Staffordshire District Council, and the lack of any discussion, dialogue, or consideration shown to local concerns is completely unacceptable. Moreover, Serco and the Home Office failed to inform us how long these hotels are expected to house asylum seekers.
As such, I have been pushing the Home Office to clarify when these hotels can go back to their proper purpose of supporting Staffordshire’s tourist industry, and I will continue to do so until we see a change in strategy.
