Over 76 percent of Perton residents have called for a lifting of the ban on turning left from Wrottesley Park Road, Perton, onto Pattingham Road.
Residents expressed their views in response to a survey sent out by Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire.
Following a lengthy campaign by Gavin, Staffordshire County Council recently confirmed that it would look at the possibility of permanently lifting the ban.
In a letter to Gavin, a representative stated: “I can confirm that officers from County Council Highways services are discussing this matter in more detail with local Members to consider potential options in relation to the existing prohibition arrangements.”
Gavin said: “These figures are clear and show that the overwhelming weight of public opinion is behind lifting this ridiculous ban.
“It is absurd that local residents travelling from Perton to Wolverhampton should have to see their journeys significantly lengthen unnecessarily. I sincerely hope that the Council makes the right decision and permanently lifts this ridiculous restriction.”
Gavin successfully campaigned, last year, to secure a temporary lift of the ban during the Nancherrow Tough Guy event.
