Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, opened the Brewood Art Group 2014 Exhibition on the 11th June, 2014.
It was the second time that Gavin had attended the event, which took place this year at the Brewood Methodist Church.
The exhibition was dedicated to the memory of the late Jim Holland, a Founder Member of the organisation.
There were of total of 144 works on display, which were painted by Mr. Holland and 19 other local artists.
Gavin said: “It was a great honour to be asked to open the exhibition, which was held in memory of the late Mr. Jim Holland.
“I was extremely impressed by the work on show. It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to see pieces by local artists, many of which depicted local scenes that I personally know well.”
Brewood Art Group chairman David Christison added: “The group has been running for 15 years and, once every two years, we take what we think are the best of our paintings and we put on an exhibition, usually in conjunction with the Brewood Music Festival.
“We currently have a waiting list for the group. We would like to take more, but the premises are a bit small.”
The Brewood Art Group, which currently has 20 members, was formed with the purpose of enabling leisure painters of all abilities to meet together, socially, and support one another in their work.
The group meets every Monday - excluding Bank Holidays - at the Methodist Church, School Road, Brewood.
