Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, is calling on the Council to remove detritus from a ‘dumping ground’ on Leaton Lane, Bobbington.
Gavin has raised the concerns of himself and local residents over the use of a local field to store road materials.
Over the past few years, the site has been used as a storage area for the Highways Department, whose nearest depot – in Gailey – is around 20 miles away.
The field has become a dumping ground for unsightly piles of gravel and broken tarmac, which lie alongside logs, tankers and lorries.
Large and noisy vehicles have also been regularly entering and departing from the site, causing a potential danger to local motorists.
Gavin said: “This is an appalling situation. The field has been taken over with mountains of gravel and tarmac, which have ruined what was once an extremely beautiful location.
“The authorities need to stop using our green belt land as a dumping ground. I find it astonishing that they can think of no better area to store these materials.”
