Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, attended the St. Paul’s Church Autumn Fayre over the weekend.
The Fayre, which was held at St. Paul’s Primary School in Coven, takes place every year to help raise funds for the maintenance of the parish church.
Visitors come from across South Staffordshire to enjoy the wide variety of stalls, raffles, games and refreshments on offer at the event.
Speaking of the Autumn Fayre, Gavin said: “I would like to thank St. Paul’s Church for such a wonderful event. I had a splendid time speaking with some of the many visitors on the day and purchased several beautiful pieces of ceramic to take home.
“Churches, such as St. Paul’s, do so much for the local community and events like the Autumn Fayre provide us with the welcome opportunity to give a little something back, while also – of course – being a lot of fun!”
Vicar and Parish Priest Fr Malcolm Lockey SSC added: “We always have an annual event. Such events help us reach out into the community and raise funds for the church throughout the year. Something like the autumn fete also invites people to become more involved in the church and its work in the parish.
“For me, personally, it was a delight to meet our local MP. We were very pleased and grateful that he gave so much of his time at the event and very graciously said a few words on the occasion. He was very lucky and went away with at least one bottle of wine.”
